What is the quote – “home is where the heart is?” “I left my heart in San Francisco…” “Home, home on the range.” Home page. Home Room. Home is the starting place for everything it seems. It is the place some of us want to leave, and quickly. The place some of us never seem to get away from. It can be where we long to be but never find, where we feel most ourselves, or find that place that makes us happy and content. To find home, I have concluded, one has to stick around for a while, and how long that is varies from person to person. My personal limit is about 5 years. Sometimes it is as little as 10 months.
Lately between 4 and 5 years is about average. I may not stay in one living space for very long, but in the general area I’ll stay some 4-5 years to get the feel of the place and see if I need to relocate to another part of the state, or the country. I’ve been in California now for almost 12 years – not all in the same place. I started near Sacramento, moved to the San Francisco Area (and I did NOT leave my heart there), moved to the LA area, and am now getting ready to move again. With the wisdom of Merlin at my side, I will start at the near end and move backwards in time. I think it is the easiest thing to do. I may not ever get back east which is where I am from, but since I am talking about being constantly on the move, and this is about movers not stickers as I said in the “Me” portion of this Blog, I will begin my first post shortly with my LA experience in which I have lived in three places over the almost 5 years I have been here, and why I am now heading back to Northern CA (further north than SF) to get out of the Southland.
